Creative Lighting Class

I've spent the last two Saturday's taking a Creative Lighting Class at Prairie View Photography school (here in Winnipeg).  I'm sure lot of you are thinking, "Great you got a break from the kids!" Well yes and no. It was a break on one hand but on the other I really had to focus on learning as much as I could. It's been forever since I've had to take notes and try to listen to my teacher at the same time! Wouldn't you know it, he gave me homework. What exactly is homework?? I have not been in school for more years then I want to think about!  All kidding aside, I did learn a lot and had a great time getting to know some wonderful photographers in the Winnipeg area.

Despite my not being in school for so many years I found joy in the note taking and mini labs we did in class. Imagine that!! I've learned two things: One: I know more about lighting then I thought I did.  Two: I still have a lot to learn! I am so excited to see where this new found knowledge takes my photography.  Light is so important when it comes to capturing great photographs, and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to take the time to learn more about it.

Here are a couple of photo's I took for my class:

Sisters!!

Last summer I had the privilege of photographing these sisters! One of them was moving away, so they wanted me to take some pictures of their last time together. They were so much fun! Here is a little sneak peek!

Gearing up for the summer

I am very excited to announce I have booked my first wedding for 2011! I am looking forward to working with the laid back, super fun couple! They are getting married in May, which is great for me because they are going to start off my wedding season! I have another wedding booked for August.  Some friends are getting married and I am shooting their wedding!! How exciting to be able to share my talent with my friends! I am so glad they asked me because it would have driven me crazy sitting there doing nothing. In fact in the past I've had to leave my camera at home when I've gone to friends weddings. I have a very hard time sitting at weddings and not taking pictures.  I love K&N and can hardly wait to work with them on their wedding day!!

Photography is my passion!  It's a gift that I have and I give all the credit to God for. Capturing special moments on a wedding day, moments that I know the couple will cherish for a life time energizes me! I am so excited to see what 2011 will bring. I am looking forward to meeting many more couples and capturing their lives in my lens!
